Blood Moon Redemption Book review

Disclaimers: I relieved a free copy from Ambassador International. This is my honest opinion, I am not giving paid to give a lying book review*

This is the first book, I am reviewing with Ambassador International. When they gave me a choice of several books. I knew I wanted to get this book. The only Jewish culture I ever read was in the Bible and I was greatly intrigued when I saw blood moons and legend of the tassel. It was mysterious and love that I was going get this book.

The genre of this book: thriller/mystery thriller, (So this actually first book I read in this genre which is really crazy), fantasy/supernatural, contemporary, Christian fiction

The romance in this book was not bad minus the facts mentioning of staying the night with a man who is not married to each other.

Likes: I liked how each chapter, let you know at the head of time where the scene is taking place. You will understand when you read it. There is a scene when a waitress asks if they know Jesus. The main character is Jewish and her “friend” is Muslim. Its reaction is hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing. I loved how the author gave out the backstory of the tassel with ruining the story itself.

Dislikes: I hated Omar. He was {spoilers removed}. Bad. I really wanted to choke him and smack Tassie in the face several times but she was {spoilers removed.
Although the book is fantasy/supernatural. I didn’t like Hector since he was a {spoiler removed}. I really didn’t like the scene where Omar sees{spoiler removed}. Hmm. No.
One more thing, I didn’t understand something. The story is complete. The synopsis is answered but some reason they are almost like four chapters left. I understand you want readers to understand what is happening to the characters. It felt weird but maybe it fits.

Rating: 4/5, 7/10

The Forbidden Wish: Book Review

Title: The Forbidden Wish

Genre: Fantasy, Retelling, Young Adult

Author: Jessica Khoury

Language: mention of cursing

Romance: kissing of the neck, kissing of lips, forced kiss

Things I disliked:

It states “perfect lips”. What is that?

It’s mentioned that the main character has two days to get her freedom but two days past and you think she would lose her freedom. Right? I am really confused.

I don’t if it is just me but the ending felt rushed. Or if they was too much background in it that I got lost in the climax.

So this book was a retelling of Aladdin and so there is a typical Disney ending. With flowers in the air. Not a fan. Disney lover will love it. Not a fan of it.

Things I liked:

So I was interested in this book because of the cover and retelling of Aladdin. I liked how the author kept the original setting. I liked how the POV was not based around Aladdin which was a plus.

Realistic Checklist – 2019

It’s going to be a shorter post but its a great post. A little off my writing/book theme, but you know. My usual routine will return. So the end of the year is near, so I decided to give you a checklist of all the things I plan on doing the year of 2019.

  1. Donate Blood. I have been avoiding doing this for the longest time.
  2.  Go to a concert whether it be Lauren Daigle or King and Country.
  3. Travel. I will really be traveling to local cities and have adventures there. If I am lucky, maybe places that are up to seven hours to drive from home. I am basically broke bookworm/writer and visiting Europe is the last thing I need to do to break the bank. 🙂
  4. Do something spontaneous like ziplining or skydiving.
  5. Volunteer whether it be at a local animal center, library, etc.
  6. Take a self-defense class.
  7. Expand my wardrobe. Transform to that edgy boho style.

Only seven things, why? I will actually do them, shockingly enough. I made a resolution of this year and failed greatly. I have learned from that lesson. Thanks for reading.

I have the plot bunny disease…..

So I realized that I have the sickness for plot bunny fever. Most of my stories are a surprise idea that I get so often that stop whatever I am doing and start typing it only to discover that I am supposed to be working on my main project. As of right now, I stopped working on my oldest project because I had so many plot bunnies hitting me and I thought would explode. I even changed my storyboards on Pinterest to a secret board. I honestly can’t look at them anymore. I am even thinking of deleting my stories and starting my story ideas anew.

I am either stressed or overthinking. I might attempt a story once I have an idea worthy enough. Everything I used to look at for inspiration is now useless. I don’t understand what happening maybe I am beginning to question if I was made for writing. Of course, I don’t know since it has always been writing. I really feel like hitting my head against a brick wall. So the next couple weeks, I will be staring at a screen wondering if a new story will rise again. Or is it worth the pain of trying to write? I’m even ignoring the post I wrote a long time ago about inspiration. My inspiration is a blank slate. I feel like blank. I seriously have no inspiration for writing. So the next upcoming weeks, I might or might not be posting. I really need to find out what is happening. Thanks for understanding.

Don’t Hate Authors Part One

Sunny, why this? Because I am tired of people believing that an author stole a famous author/movie idea. Like the Eragon by Christoper Paolini debate. Did he copy and paste The Lord of the Rings? No. So he didn’t steal it. He was inspired by Tolkien. Like I am inspired by Tolkien, doesn’t mean I am going to copy and paste it. Good grief, people.

Mini Review of Eragon: Epic story because my favorite mystical creature is the dragon is in it. Take How to Train your Dragon, Dragonheart, and Tolkien and combined them together. I don’t understand the hate towards this book. Yes, the author uses elves and dwarves. I just don’t understand it all. It’s not like he completely copied and pasted the story and just changed some of the locations’ names and characters’. You can see the elements of Tolkien in it but some people. Other than that, I plan on reading the next book in the series.

Writers get inspired by stories but they have a unique writing process. Like right now, I noticed one of my stories may have been inspired by The Clerk’s Prologue/Tale in The Canterbury Tales. I am not copying the characters/plot. No. If anything, writers are writing clichés. Don’t point out the famous author’s names in your review, if you are going to hate on a writer.

Writers work on their projects for days, months, and years maybe. And next thing you know, you hate on their book. Sure, you can point out the true audience for that certain book such as rating the violence, romance, or etc. I do that. I am not hating the author. I am just pointing things for when a younger reader decides to read it. Aka safety warnings, nothing more. Nothing else.

Next time, you review a book. Rate the violence, language, and romance. Not rate how an author copied a popular idea. Please. Less hate. Readers are to support authors not to create graves for them.

Thanks for reading!

Tales of Tarsurella: Book II review

Title: The Rebellion

Author: Livy Jarmusch

Genre: Christian, Contemporary, Fantasy

Published: May 6th, 2018

Synopsis: Something is brewing. Like the far-off rumble of a train in the distance, a rebellion is stirring. A cry for change arises in the midst of a traditional monarchy, where King Addison has inherited the throne. Who are the underground troublemakers? What is stirring their defiant banner and demand for change?

Notes:

So it has been almost over a year since I was part of The Coronation book blog tour. And now I am finally reading the books. Yep, no judging me here. Thanks.

So I don’t if it’s me or does Asher like the Christian version of Nico from the Percy Jackson series? Hmm.. thought not. Yeah, it just me. Asher is like a marshmallow and all I want to do is hug him.

I love the evolvement of Bridget throughout the book. ❤ Liam and Bridget. Hmm.. 🙂

The struggles that Hope has is basically me. 😛 (Finding her purpose)

When Millie tells Vanessa about Addison {spoiler removed}. It’s hilarious.

The quote can be found on page 126 (paperback edition)

Chasity: “It’s below freezing outside, and much as I love Nic, I’m not going to suffer through frostbite just to go horseback riding. Things have been extremely dull around here the past few months. I’m ready for a good adventure.”

Hanson: “An adventure? In the library?”

Charity: “Why, of course!” “That’s where all adventures begin.”

Me: Thank you, Charity. This is the truth.

Although I love this book and rate it a five. I really felt like Addison and Vanessa have that “perfect relationship”. The only odd thing is the aftermath of that date, they have. {spoiler removed} Their relationship is really fast-paced. The really odd thing ever is the rebellion and then instead of {spoiler removed} they {spoiler removed}. Make so much sense, right? No, it doesn’t.  Now I have to wait for the next book. Ughh.

Book review: Fawkes by Nadine Brandes

Enjoy this book review. Hopefully, more is coming soon on the blog. Fingers crossed.

Disclaimer: **There may have spoilers?? Who knows really?**

So I first discovered Nadine Brandes or either Tashapolis’ or Jessethereader’s channel. I can’t remember which.  I had never heard of her before and was interested when she was soon to publish Fawkes. And I soon subscribed to her Youtube.

Author Bio:

Nadine once spent four days as a sea cook in the name of book research. She’s the author of FAWKES and of the award-winning The Out of Time Series. Her inner fangirl perks up at the mention of soul-talk, Quidditch, bookstagram, and Oreos. When she’s not busy writing novels about bold living, she’s adventuring through Middle Earth or taste-testing a new chai. Nadine and her Auror husband are building a Tiny House on wheels. Current mission: paint the world in shalom.

Synopsis:

Thomas Fawkes is turning to stone, and the only cure to the Stone Plague is to join his father’s plot to assassinate the king of England.
Silent wars leave the most carnage. The wars that are never declared, but are carried out in dark alleys with masks and hidden knives. Wars where color power alters the natural rhythm of 17th century London. And when the king calls for peace, no one listens until he finally calls for death.
But what if death finds him first?
Keepers think the Igniters caused the plague. Igniters think the Keepers did. But all Thomas knows is that the Stone Plague infecting his eye is spreading. And if he doesn’t do something soon, he’ll be a lifeless statue. So when his Keeper father, Guy Fawkes, invites him to join the Gunpowder Plot—claiming it will put an end to the plague—Thomas is in.
The plan: use 36 barrels of gunpowder to blow up the Igniter King.
The problem: Doing so will destroy the family of the girl Thomas loves. But backing out of the plot will send his father and the other plotters to the gallows. To save one, Thomas will lose the other.
No matter Thomas’s choice, one thing is clear: once the decision is made and the color masks have been put on, there’s no turning back.

My review:

So I just realized it me, it took me to read it in a month. It wasn’t bad, I promise. It just me and forgetting I have an ebook and remembering to read before bed. *disclaimer*

So this is another book, I have to choose for a favorite of this year. In the beginning, it felt like it was slow but it gradually increased in conflict and suspense. I liked how Nadine choose this time period. Although I don’t know much about, it was actually interesting to read in fictional terms. I like how she used each color of a mask and gave them each a certain power for it and genius in itself. Now I really want to learn the history behind the story. It’s really intriguing. And there is Emma. I had my doubts about her, in the beginning, like is going to betray Thomas. Yes? No? She was great, enjoyed how she developed. Then there is his father, I had so high hopes. Why? :/ The white light was an interesting concept. I loved it so much. It really tied together very well.

Rating: Five stars

Seeking Alpha Readers

Welcome back, owlnerds. I am currently seeking alpha readers for a story I have been working on and off the past few years. Here is the excerpt of the first chapter. Enjoy!!! Comment down if you like to be part of my street team where you can help me promote it and even help me chose a cover.

Chapter 1

Ever since Odessa lost her mother, Odessa became accustomed to reading books and finding a way to pass the time. Many a day Odessa would hide in the throne room, disappearing from any thoughts of reality.

It was nearly noon and Odessa leaned forward once again in her golden throne. Trying to find the perfect place to read her book. She flicked her long black hair back. At times she despised her long locks, wishing they would leave her alone once in a while or she would never be able to finish her book. She knew that in due time, someone would notice her and all feelings of happiness would end. She parted her hair to the side and stretched her arms forward in her chair, covering her face from sight with her large leather book.

Feeling someone’s presence, she adjusted herself as she straightened her blue dress embroidered with golden spirals She also pulled her scarlet butterfly sleeves back into place. Making sure she looked proper enough. Her head turned as her cheeks reddened as a fire sparked inside of her.

The other person looked at her with a coy smile. She lifted her eyebrows up and stared at the young man. Her close friend, William stood before her. She noticed that William had recently shaved himself since there were fresh cuts on his chin and the side of his cheeks. One had to look closely to see it.

She noticed that his tunic had been recently washed for it didn’t smell of wet dog. Her eyes flicked as she noticed the scabbard that hung over his polished chain mail.

William smiled as well as he patted his scabbard which held carvings that Odessa made as a devotion of her love to him.  With him looking down at her, her own falsehood crashed down on her before she knew it. “So what were you doing?” he said.

Lowering her head as she sagged the book over her stomach as she “Me? I was doing nothing.” Her eyes lifted upward slightly as William had raised an eyebrow. She grunted.“Fine, I was hiding.”

“Hiding, what? Who were you hiding from?” He smiled with his dimples showing despite his disliking of them.

“People.”

He jerked his head back and cracked his neck.“People? No there has to be someone. Who is it?”

She sighed. “Sir Irwin.”

He gasped and covered his mouth as if he was surprised by her answer. “Him, why him?”

She frowned as she rubbed her hands together. “He is a bit creepy.”

“Creepy, how is he creepy?” He tilted his head to the side.

“He is so serious and he makes me nervous.”

He blinked his eyes. “Well.”

She stood up and turned around to place the book on the chair. She opened up her hands and he allowed her to come near. He held her and kissed her on the head. “Odessa, I love you.”

“ I love you too, William.” She kissed him back.

“So, if you had to choose to marry anyone, who would you marry?”

What a silly question to ask? She steepled her fingers. She didn’t say anything except that she kissed him on the cheek.

He raised his eyebrows. “So, do you want to go horseback riding?”

“Sure, if I can ride with you.” She smiled and placed her hand in his.

He squeezed her hand with a firm grasp. “Front or back?”

She tilted her head for a second and looked at him wide-eyed. “Hmm. I think I will try back.”

His eyes narrowed as his lips lowered in an inexpressive matter.

Her legs began to shake. Did I say something wrong? Why are you staring at me like that?

He laughed out loud and twirled her around. “Hope you don’t tickle me. Since you made me fall a few days ago.”

She stared at him intensely. “I promise I want.”

He grabbed her by the hand and began to pull her close. “William. No, don’t…”

He looked at her with a puppy face. “Please.”

She looked around the throne room. Checking to see if anyone was looking or had entered the room without her noticing it. “No one is around. If father comes, he would never trust me again. We must think of what we are doing. We shouldn’t be doing whatever we want to do. It will only make this silly matter between us worse.”

“Me, no?” He placed his hand to his chest with guilt in his eyes. “And besides, everyone knows except your father. Just calm down.”

Her eyes narrowed as she clenched into fists.“Father could have entered the room and you didn’t even think about it.”

“Stop worrying. Come on.” He clasped her hand in his and they walked out of the castle together.

Entering the royal garden, Odessa bumped into Clover. Clover was a short servant girl with wavy blonde hair. “Clover, what are you doing?

Odessa and William released their hands from each other and moved them to their back They grinned as if they were guiltless.

She curtsied and stared at William and Odessa with suspicion. “I was getting some flowers for your room. May I ask, princess, what were you deciding to do?”

“Horseback riding.” Odessa raised her eyebrows and tried not to look strange in any way.

Clover shook her head. “No, miss. Horseback riding is not on the to-do list today. You have sewing to catch up on, and we must discuss the coronation. It is only a few days away.”

“About that. Can we reschedule?” She smirked.

“No, miss. The king wants you to be educated.” Clover shook her head and squinted her eyes and stared at William.

Odessa placed her hand on her heart and smirked with pride.“Me, educated. I have books.”

Clover shook her head looking disgusted. “Books don’t teach everything.”

“Hey, take that back.” Odessa pointed a finger at her and then turned in it into a fist.

Clover thought otherwise. “No, women are to be at home instead of sticking their noses in a book.”

Odessa launched herself toward Clover with hands in a choking position.

Interview:

What was your first idea of a story? Or your earliest memory of it? The first story I ever wrote was set in Egypt, and it was about a girl who was chosen to be Princess after the Pharoah’s daughter dies. The girl doesn’t accept who is until a handsome prince tells her that she is a good princess. I still have that book. I drew my own illustrations and stapled it in construction paper.

Music or no music while writing? Sometimes, yes, sometimes, no. Depends on what mood I’m in. If yes, I listen to instrumental or movie soundtracks. If I listen to music with words, I might start typing the lyrics

If you weren’t writing full time, what would you be doing? I would be teaching competitive dance, which I would still like to be able to do after college.

What color aesthetic would you be your WIP?  Grey with a bit of color: maybe blue

Where do most of your ideas come from? Reading other people’s books. I like to pull inspiration from my favorite books and turn them into my own ideas. Also, Pinterest because why not?

What is your favorite/least favorite part of the writing process? Favorite: Watching all my different ideas come together, especially when editing. Least Favorite: Writer’s block and sometimes drafting. I find that it’s easier to work with something that is already there rather than a blank page.

How long did take you write Show Me? Roughly two years from idea to publication.

Which famous person, living or dead would you like to meet and why? Ok this honestly a hard one. I would love to meet JK Rowling (Queen) but also I want to meet Nadine Brandes! (Does she count as famous. (lol)

What are your writing dreams? To be a best selling author, and to create a fan base of people who love Soul Quester books and all my characters. Like the HP or Cassandra Clare fandoms.

What is your spirit animal? I don’t really have a spirit animal, but do Patronus count? Mine is a black mare.

Thanks for reading!!! What bookish posts would you like to see? 🙂
